Artillery Fern (Pilea microphylla)
Technically not a fern, this house plant has tiny, rounded leaves held close together on its stems, giving it the look of a fern. It has small, greenish flowers that are nearly inconspicuous and it’s grown mainly for its foliage. Its common name refers to how its seeds are dispersed. When ripe, they explode out into the air. Forms a handsome clump a foot high and at least as wide. Grows well in average-to-cool room temperature and bright to low light.
